Cross Country Meet Rescheduled

Cross Country Parents,

Due to last week's rain and course conditions, the Bay School rescheduled their home meet for tomorrow afternoon at 4:15 with the boys running first.

The Cross Country team will be riding up on the little school bus to the Bay School around 3:30pm.  This will allow the team time for warm-ups, a snack, and a pre-meet pep talk.

The Cross Country team will need to be picked up by parents from the Bay School directly following the meet.  There will be no transportation back to BHCS following the meet.

Any questions, give me a call.

Thanks,

Mrs. Billings

October Calendar and Rescheduled Game

The October sports calendar is now available on our website.

There is one correction that needs to be made to the October schedule- on Tuesday, October 14th there will be a home game for the B Team against the Bay School at 3:30pm.  This game is a rescheduled game from September.  The A Team will practice following the game.

Thanks!

Soccer Game This Friday

Dear B Team Parents,

This Friday's soccer game with Sedgwick has been pushed back from 3:30 to 4pm due to Sedgwick's difficulty in getting extra buses.

Thanks for your patience,

Mrs. Billings

A Team Round Robin @ MMA Saturday

Dear A Team Parents,

When you received this months schedule there was attached to it a paper talking about this Saturday's soccer Round Robin at MMA.  Coach Billings would like all A Team players who will be participating and riding the bus to be at the school no later than 1:30pm.  This will ensure us plenty of travel time and warm up time before our first game at 2:30pm.  As we did last year, we have the last game at 7pm under the lights.  Once the final game is over and the A Team does their part with cleaning up, then they will board the bus to come back to Blue Hill.

Dinner, drinks, and snacks will be provided by the various schools who are participating.  BHCS has been asked to bring snacks for Saturday.  The school will purchase something to bring but if any parent would like to bring something as well, that would be very much appreciated.  The snacks can be chips, crackers, pretzels, popcorn, muffins, fruit, trailmix, etc. and need only be enough for our 16 person team.  Please make sure that whatever you bring is prepackaged or prewrapped in some way as the soccer team doesn't have the cleanest hands when they come in to grab a snack.

Please remember to have your child bring their A Team uniform to wear on Saturday as well as all of their other soccer gear (shinguards, cleats, mouthguards).   If your child does plan on playing in the Round Robin on Saturday, please have them let Coach Billings know by Friday so that he can know how many players to expect.

Any questions, please let me know.

Thanks,

Mrs. Billings

Cancellations

All Cross Country and Soccer Practices for today have been cancelled due to the weather.

Cross Country Practice will continue tomorrow from 2:45-4:15pm.

All soccer players will have practice from 5pm-6:30.  With the participation of 32-33 students on the soccer team, not all 7th graders will be eligible to play on the A team. The soccer practice tomorrow will involve some try-out procedures for the 7th graders in order to determine who will make the A team and who will make the B team.  Students will be told tomorrow which team they will play on and paper schedules will be handed out then as well.  The schedule for the month of September is now available online on the school website under the athletics heading.

If you have some questions, give me a call at 374-2202 ext. 105 or email me at cbillings@bhcs.org

Thank you!

Soccer Parents

Dear Soccer Parents,

I want to apologize to all of you for the delay and bit of confusion at the start of this years soccer season.  I have started out the school year recovering from pneumonia which has forced me to move at a bit slower pace than normal.

I was very happy to see all of the excited students who came out for the soccer team this year.  As of right now we have around 33 students who will be playing soccer, which has caused us to split the group into two teams, A and B.  It has been 3 years since BHCS has had enough interest to support two full soccer teams and it's fantastic!

Today, there will be no soccer practice.  Tomorrow, there will be soccer practice from 5pm-6:30, at which time there will be a tryout process for the 7th graders as some will be put on the A team and some will be put on the B team.  The A and B teams will be chosen tomorrow and all students will be notified of which team they are on by the end of practice.  Coach Billings will be conducting tomorrow's practice and will be using the BHCS athletic policy to make teams.  A copy of the policy is available in the student handbook and is also available on our school website under the athletics heading.  Coach Billings will be coaching the A team this season and Damon Urban will be coaching the B team.

Schedules for A and B players will be handed out at tomorrow's practice.  Soccer uniforms will be distributed on Wednesday.  The A and B teams have their first games this Friday, September 12th and by that time all A and B players must have the proper equipment necessary to play.  This includes shin guards, soccer socks, and cleats.  BHCS will be providing goalie gloves and shirts for our goalies and mouthguards for all players.

Fall 2008 Preseason Practices

Welcome to BHCS Athletics for the 2008-2009 school year!  We are starting off the fall season with some preseason practices for our cross country and soccer teams.

Soccer will be coached by Jeb Billings.  The OPTIONAL practice times for this week are August 20th- 22nd from 5 to 6:30pm.  Next week, the OPTIONAL practice times are August 25th- 28th from 10- 11:30am.  Coach Billings looks forward to meeting everyone who is interested in getting a head start on the season.  If you are unable to make the preseason practices, don't worry you can still play soccer.

Cross Country will be coached by Jenny Baroody.  The OPTIONAL practice times for next week are August 26th and August 28th from 4- 5:30pm.  Coach Baroody is also looking forward to getting to know our BHCS runners.  And again, if you are unable to attend the preseason practices it will not impact your ability to make the team.

Any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at cbillings@bhcs.org or call me at 479-2220.

Thanks!

Chris Billings, BHCS Athletic Director

END OF THE BASEBALL/ SOFTBALL SEASON CELEBRATION!

Hi Parents,

It's that time of the year again.  Your student was notified last week that this Thursday will be the baseball/ softball teams' end of the season celebration.  I hope that they in turn, told you.

We will be playing a co-ed softball game here at the school field at 4pm.  Parents are invited to either watch or play, their choice.  A snack will be provided after the game and then awards will be passed out.

Please have your student return their uniform ASAP.  As of today, I have only received 8 out of 24 uniforms, so please bring them in.

Any questions, give me a call.  Thanks.

Chris Billings
