Music Stations!  We warmed up our musical minds by working at 9 music activity stations around the room.  Students were engaged in various music activities such as; reading books, hot potato, matching sounds, matching terms and symbols, identifying rhythms, playing Boom Whackers and electric pianos, discovering musical instruments from around the world CD Rom, and a listening center.  Currently, we are working on song tales and poetry.  In the future, I am planning on using a new computer music tool called Groovy Music.  It is a piece of software used to help students create different forms of music through shapes and sounds.  Come and check everything out!

The Study of Sound...

The first month of school was a success and students are settling in.  We indulged our spirit of inquiry and celebrated the Study of Sound by working at nine music activity stations around the room.  Students were engaged in various music activities such as; reading books, writing lyrics, matching sounds, understanding how a CD works, playing barred instruments, discovering musical instruments from around the world CD Rom, learning about classical music and composers Leap Pad, exploring the piano lab and listening center.  I will be working on developing more centers throughout the year.
