Dear Families,
It’s that “back to school” time of year again and we hope this will be the best year ever for your child. This letter will be just one of many communications that you will be receiving to keep you informed of classroom and program details, field trips, and upcoming events.
The Open House Picnic on Thursday, September 6th will be a chance to get back into the school spirit.   The picnic begins at 5:30 PM, followed by the 7th grade laptop meeting and the 8th grade parent meeting at 6:15 pm.  Goal setting conferences will be scheduled beginning Friday, September 19th.
The following teaching assignments have been made this year:
    •    Maryanne Lewandowski will be teaching 6th grade math and social studies.
    •    Anita Black, formerly a 6-8 teacher at the L.L. Lewis School in Steuben, will be teaching 6th grade science and ELA.
    •    Bill O’Connell will be teaching 7th and 8th grade science, and 7th grade math.
    •    Cathy Snow will be teaching 7th grade social studies and ELA, and 8th grade math.
    •    Della Martin will be teaching 8th grade ELA and social studies.
    •    Lori Wessel is the special education teacher for grades 5-8.
    •    Chandra Bisberg, a student teacher from the College of the Atlantic, will be working with Ms. Martin for the first trimester.

Fall 2008 Preseason Practices

Welcome to BHCS Athletics for the 2008-2009 school year!  We are starting off the fall season with some preseason practices for our cross country and soccer teams.

Soccer will be coached by Jeb Billings.  The OPTIONAL practice times for this week are August 20th- 22nd from 5 to 6:30pm.  Next week, the OPTIONAL practice times are August 25th- 28th from 10- 11:30am.  Coach Billings looks forward to meeting everyone who is interested in getting a head start on the season.  If you are unable to make the preseason practices, don't worry you can still play soccer.

Cross Country will be coached by Jenny Baroody.  The OPTIONAL practice times for next week are August 26th and August 28th from 4- 5:30pm.  Coach Baroody is also looking forward to getting to know our BHCS runners.  And again, if you are unable to attend the preseason practices it will not impact your ability to make the team.

Any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at cbillings@bhcs.org or call me at 479-2220.

Thanks!

Chris Billings, BHCS Athletic Director

Weekly Newsletter

June 14, 2008
Dear parents,
Wow! What a great week we?ve had. It has been busy and filled with
many different types of crafts and activities. I am sure your child is
tired but happy. Your child has made some adorable Father?s Day gifts
and at least one card so please remind them to give them those gifts
on Sunday.
We have finished Everyday math for this year ending with an End of
Year Assessment packet. The End of Year Family Letter is attached to
this copy. We will be reviewing math concepts next week as well as
playing math games!
You child has written one last published story, which we will be
sharing next week and celebrating with our last Sandwich Rule party!
These stories will then be coming home for all of you to enjoy.
In reading your child has been reading daily but we are not sending
books home anymore. If you have any reading books at home please send
them back with your child Monday. We restock all lost books and
appreciate not having to restock as many as possible for budget
reasons. Thank you in advance on this.
We have finished our last science/ social studies unit on birds this
past Friday, as you know! They are now finishing their big books,
which will come home next week.

Please do not forget that we are going on a field trip next Tuesday
June 17th. Make sure your child is at school on time, has a bag lunch,
a drink, a towel, a change of clothes, and shoes that can get wet.
Have a wonderful weekend
Sincerely,
Kathy Hally
